Happy August guys! Man July felt like a blur after the 4th, which always makes me scared of how fast time flies by. Where’s the pause button lol? So today and tomorrow are book unboxing posts! Today is the July FairyLoot box that is themed The Power Within. Now, there were boxes that were shipped late so if you haven’t gotten your July FairyLoot yet, there are spoilers in this post. But if you’re all good or don’t scare for spoilers, let’s jump right in!
Now with this tea towel, FairyLoot did send out a notification about this misprinted item and there will be a replacement sent. Personally, if they had enough time to not package this misprinted item before mailing all the boxes, why not do that? I do think it’s a bit big for a tea towel and it’s sad that you can only read it backwards. It does say: “The spine was steel. Her heart was armor. Her eyes were fire.” While it is a cool quote, I’ll be waiting for the replacement item to see if its worth it.
Here’s where the good stuff comes in. This STUNNING art print is Zele from Children of Blood and Bone and it’s done by Diana Worak and holy crap isn’t this beautiful? She reminds me of Storm from X-Men. The sticker is “Ond Eldr/breathe fire” from Sky in the Deep that I also love to death! (And something I need find good home for. The pen is a cute broom from HP that talks about Quidditch. The room spray is the scent Lavender and Books that’s inspired by Snow Like Ashes by Sara Raasch. Finally, the card of Sweet Black Waves has a link with a password to access an exclusive excerpt online.
So this month’s box is the debut novel Heart of Thorns by Bree Barton, which has red sprayed edges! I love that FairyLoot does exclusive designs to the covers or book to make them unique. I think it fits the book really well. The letter from the author is kinda vague but is cool to read and I loved that the book is also signed 🙂
I’m honestly glad that FairyLoot is slowly starting to have the authors actually sign the book instead of getting the book plate. The physical signature in the book feels more personal and I love the bright marker that the author used. While I haven’t been hearing the greatest things about this book, I still want to read it for myself. Here’s an overall look of the July box:
I finally got this mug in a picture. This mug is one of those magic mugs that only has the image appears when you put hot water in it. But sadly, I couldn’t get a good picture of it on my camera since the quote itself doesn’t show up quite well. It is designed by Little Inkling Designs and it’s a quote from the Falling Kingdom series by Morgan Rhodes and it’s a rainbow font. The quote says: “You must continue to believe with all your heart. Sometimes belief is all it takes to make something real.” I do love the quote, but don’t think the quote appears well even with really hot water. I’m not really happy with how that turned out.
So, I sadly have to say that I’m not entirely satisfied with this July box. There wasn’t any fun pins or other trinkets like they’re normally is. The only items I care for are: the book itself, normal bookmark, Zele art print, the sticker and I did give the broom pen to a friend. But after sending a misprinted item anyway, very slow shipment of the box and just not a lot of stuff, it’s not the best box. I think I will be more picky with them in the future. It’s not a terrible box, I’m not saying that, but I have seen FairyLoot do much better in the past.
Did you get the July box? If so, what was your favorite item? Have you read the book and what did you think of it? Do you like FairyLoot or another book box?
