Happy Monday everyone! I can’t believe it’s already June?! Where did May go? I hope you all are safe, healthy and doing what you need to make sure you’re happy and feeling good! Today I wanted to share what I’m currently reading/trying to finish and what I want to read/listen to next. I’m trying to push past my weird reading moods and also trying not to play a ton of video games.

I have 2 e-ARCs that I’m trying to finish this week and I started a new audio book! I’m a good chunk through Maya and the Rising Dark, which is coming out in late September. I’ve had this ARC from NetGalley since December, but with the release date changing from May to September, I did delay it for a while. I’m trying to not be terrible with waiting to read ARCs. So far I’m liking Maya pretty well; while middle grade hasn’t really been a genre I don’t read a lot of, this book is a fun and quick read. Then, I’m reading Mexican Gothic which comes out at the very end of this month. This is one that a lot of people are talking about and raving about. Many of my bookish friends have loved this. So far, I really like the author’s writing style but I do hope that the pacing picks up a little bit. Then, this morning, I started the audio book of Thorn, which is a Goose Girl retelling by a Muslim author and one that’s really highly rated. I was waiting FOREVER for the audio book to come through my library but then I got impatient and got it on Audible. So far, all three books are good and I’m going to push through and finishing at least my two e-ARCs this week 🙂

What I plan to read next

These are the next ARCs to get through after the current ones I’m reading. While my pile is slowly getting smaller, the panic to get them read in time is still very present lol. I’m SO pumped to start Unravel the Dusk, since I loved the first book so much. Then, I was sent a physical ARC of Scarlet Odyssey from a publicist a while ago that I need to get to. Since I’m making a better effort to not only read more diversely, but also read more Black voices, I’ll be reading Scarlet Odyssey at the right time.

What are you currently reading? Have you read any of these? Let me know your thoughts in the comments!
