Happy Wednesday everyone! I wasn’t sure what to do as far as a post for today but I saw a recent 5 star predictions video from a Booktuber that I really like, so I’m following in her footsteps. While it’s been a long time since my last 5 star predictions post, and I wasn’t great at following through, these are 5 books I am certainly getting to in the next 1-6 months. I’m giving myself a window deadline to make sure these get read lol. These aren’t in any order, so here we go!
1. Elysium Girls
This book came out this past April and I only remembered it since a couple reviews popped up on my Goodreads feed a while ago. I also bought this not long after it came out. This is a standalone genre blender, with it being a Dust Bowl era setting, mechanical horses, a game of life and death…sounds like an awesome ride. I really love books that either blend genres or have unique sounding plots compared to the current YA market. This is about two girls who join a gang called the Elysium Girls who are trying to prevent the apocalypse. I also read a sample of this before I bought it and I had that special feeling while reading the sample that this could be a future favorite. So having that feeling right off the bat is always a good idea, so fingers crossed!
2. Unravel the Dusk (Blood of Stars #2)
Since I gave the first book 5 stars last summer and still recommend it to my co-workers and library patrons, I think this one might be a “no brainer” but I’m still putting it on here. This is the sequel to Spin the Dawn and it’s the finale to see where Mia ends up on her quest. I love the author’s writing style so much and the first book made me want ALL the food and clothes. I have faith that this author will deliver another amazing book, so I have high hopes that this will be a 5 star book.
3. The Princess Will Save You #1
While I think this one will also be a “no brainer”, it’s going on here! This is SUCH a hyped book coming out in LESS THAN A MONTH! I mean, whose not excited about a book where the princess goes off to kick butt and save the boy she loves? Plus it’s inspired by The Princess Bride, so that also has my heart too. I have this beauty pre-ordered, so it’s being read the month it comes out!
4. The Rage of Dragons #1
I hear nothing but praise for this debut fantasy book from people who love fantasy, but are picky with their ratings. This is an African adult fantasy book with dragons! How cool is that?! I’ve also heard that it’s part military fantasy and since that’s a sub-genre I’m not familiar with, it sounds intriguing. I have the audio book for this and since the sequel is coming out later this year, as well as making better efforts to read more diversely, I’m ready for this own voices book and I really want to jump on the hype train for it.
5. The Silvered Serpents (Gilded Wolves #2)
While this book doesn’t come out until later September, I’m going to read this in July. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the first book so much that I can’t wait any longer to continue with the series. I’ve heard that it’s a sequel that breaks your heart and even though that happened with Aurora Burning, I guess I’m ready for it to happen again lol. But yeah this series is gorgeous, imaginative and also laced with real history and magic that I need to get back to this world.
What are your 5 star predictions? Are these on your list as well? Let me know in the comments!
